And by no means do I want to be lumped into the crowd of zealots whose “HCG beliefs” are 100% correct, if you want to question, challenge, or improve on anything I have researched here:
1. The Original HCG Diet Protocol. Circa 1950’s- 2008. Still has some die hard followers.
Method: Pure HCG hormone, taken by injection daily, in conjunction with a 500 calorie diet, and restriction in lotions and cosmetics.Pros: it worked!
Cons:-The 500 calorie diet was justified by Dr. Simeons assertion that the remaining calories would be provided by fat loss. In other words, the fat converted into calories so the dieter had enough energy. The problem? PROTEIN. In the 1960’s nutritional research wasn't as advanced as it is today, and the 500 calorie diet simply doesn’t have enough protein to sustain muscle.
-Hormone imbalances. The term “hormone imbalance” wasn't understood in the 60’s, but today, it’s common knowledge, every woman is aware of it, and men are learning it takes its toll on them too (yes, testosterone is a hormone). Taking heavy doses of a single hormone (in this case HCG) can lead to symptoms such as hair loss, headaches, blood clots, leg cramps, constipation, and breast tenderness, according to Women's Health Magazine in their article, “The Dangers of HCG Injections.”
-Cosmetics and lotions were restricted, as Dr. Simeons was convinced that they caused weight gain. A mountain of evidence and research about cosmetics and lotions has proved this assertion false.
2. Homeopathic HCG Drops.
Our first HCG Drops product was actually a homeopathic drop, back in 2010. Homeopathic drops removed several of the problems of the original protocol.Pro’s being:-Easier to take, no injections required.-Less expensive-Didn’t require a prescription-Didn’t create hormone imbalances The premise of homeopathy in general is that a lot of people just don’t accept homeopathy as a science, including the FDA, who declared them illegal in December 2011. Luckily, really smart people had seen the writing on the wall, and been formulating non-hormonal blends for some time, and the Non-Hormonal HCG drops became mainstream in 2012. And so, on to method 3…
3. Non-Hormonal Drops (Amino Acid Based)
When formulators determined that while the amino acids that made up HCG were causing some unwanted and unexpected negatives, the right balance of amino acids could be used in the HCG diet, without the negative effects caused by the hormone.Pros: Inexpensive, easy to take, no injections required, no hormone imbalance issues.-More potency. With the amino acids, potency isn’t restricted as it is in a homeopathic product. The non-hormonal blends usually contain ingredients such as:-L-Ornithine
-L-Carnitine
-L-Agrinine
-L-Glutamine
-Maca
-Niacin
-Africanum
-Beta-Alanine
-Rhodiola
-Astragalus, USP Purified Water
-USP Corn Grain Alcohol
Watch this video from the Rachel Ray show. Notice that the sister who did the DROPS lost more weight than the sister that did the injections!
